Dear residents of Northbrook, my name is Elliot Miller and I am 64-years-old. Like many others, I have heard and read a lot about the eclipse. 

I have always been up for a road trip, so I left Northbrook on Aug. 19 at about 8 a.m. and arrived in Makanda at 4:30 p.m. The crowd had a good vibe.

I spent Sunday night sleeping in my car in a field with about 20 other car campers. I found my viewing spot at 8:30 a.m., the shore of crab orchard lake--.
