Robert Funke’s saloon, built in 1885, was located on Shermer Avenue not far from the Shermerville train station. It eventually became the Cypress Inn and then the Landmark Inn. Photos Submitted.
When train service became available in downtown Shermerville in the mid-1880s, the station was located on the east side of the tracks, across from where the current station stands.
