A proposal submitted to the Village of Northbrook by the mall’s owner, Brookfield Properties, would demolish Macy’s, completely update the mall’s interior and exterior spaces, add a large lawn area featuring an open-air plaza and add a 500,000-square-foot residential development.

The much-anticipated House 406 restaurant opened in downtown Northbrook Saturday, July 26, to a packed house.  
A lot of Chicago buzz was built up around the new local eatery, located at 1143 Church St.,  because of owner Jennifer Eisen, a Northbrook native and current resident who recently ended her tenure with city treasure Girl and the Goat restaurant. Eisen was known as Stephanie Izard's "right-hand woman" even as Eisen launched her first venture, El Mexican restaurant in Glenview, two years ago.
But House 406 is decidedly different from El, as she calls it.

Six North Shore girls are hoping that their tight, family-like bond will help propel their internationally recognized rhythmic gymnastics team to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
But Jennifer Rokhman and Monica Rokhman — 17-year-old twins from Northbrook and seniors at Glenbrook North High School — think their sisterly intuition will give their team a much-coveted edge over their intense domestic competition.
“It’s interesting being in the same sport as my sister, especially now being in [the group event] with her,” Monica said. “I think we expect more from each other.”
