Fish on Fire’s B.J. Sung was once an architect for restaurants. Now, the owner of Glenview’s newest Japanese restaurant, which opened Dec. 13, is putting his restaurant-building and designing skills to another use — at his own place.

“I’ve always had a passion [to open] my own restaurant,” Sung said. “But in a different sense.”

Sung loves Japanese food and wanted to share his version of both traditional and contemporary Japanese fare with customers on the North Shore, but he also came to the decision to launch his own Japanese restaurant from his passion for architecture.
