Under the leadership of Northbrook resident Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz, Lubavitch-Chabad of Illinois grew to encompass 43 centers and institutions in 21 cities.
Moscowitz had started a study group in a private home in Northbrook nearly 30 years ago. In 2000, the Moscowitz family moved to Northbrook and opened a new Chabad center. It moved to its present location at 2095 Landwehr Road more than two years ago.
He was about “connecting people to a higher purpose,” said his son, Rabbi Zelik Moscowitz, who still lives in Northbrook.
