The Chicago Cubs surprised the Sorial family, of Northbrook, on Feb. 17 with a trip to spring training for the whole family. Johnny Sorial was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at Advocate Children’s Hospital in 2016. He has been in remission since December 2019.
Johnny looks on as Chicago Cubs players Jason Heyward presents a surprise video message to him on Feb. 17 detailing the trip to spring training. Photos Submitted.
Sorial was one of five avid Cubs fans — ages 8 to 14 — chosen to receive an all-expenses-paid trip from a partnership consisting of Advocate Children’s Hospital, the Cubs, American Airlines and Marriott.
