A Metra train fatally struck a pedestrian around 10:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, according to Tom Miller, a spokesman for Metra, reports The Tower's sister paper, The Highland Park Landmark.
The Union Pacific North Line departed from Waukegan at 10:05 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Ogilvie Transportation at 11:25 p.m.
Trains were delayed in both directions for 3 hours, Miller said.
Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper was called to the scene for a death investigation around 11 p.m.
